Flint Police Ops ("Flint Police Ops," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website flintpoliceops.com, our email newsletter, the Flint Police Ops Facebook Page, and an associated Facebook app used to publish content to our Page (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to this Privacy Policy.

News tips and submissions: your name, email address, phone number, the content of your tip, and any photos or files you choose to upload. You may submit tips anonymously.
Event submissions: event details and the contact name, email address, and phone number you provide.

Information collected automatically: like most websites, our hosting provider may log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URLs for security and performance purposes.

2. Our Facebook App and Meta Platform Data

We use a Facebook app, connected to Meta's Graph API, to publish news updates and community information to the Flint Police Ops Facebook Page. Posts may be prepared or scheduled with the help of an automated AI assistant (Grok, provided by xAI) before being published through the Graph API.

Through this app we may access or process:

The Page access token and Page identifiers needed to publish to the Flint Police Ops Page;
Basic profile information (name and ID) of the Page administrators who authorize the app;
Content we publish to our Page, and publicly available engagement information on our own posts (such as reactions, comment counts, and comments) where permitted by Meta's permissions.

We do not use the app to collect data from Facebook users' personal profiles, friends lists, or private messages, and we do not sell, rent, or share Meta Platform Data with data brokers or advertisers. We use Platform Data only to operate the Page publishing features described here, and in compliance with the Meta Platform Terms and Developer Policies.

3. How We Use Information

To send the newsletter you subscribed to;
To review, verify, and report on news tips and to publish events;
To respond to your questions and advertising inquiries;
To publish and manage posts on the Flint Police Ops Facebook Page;
To maintain the security and performance of the Services and comply with the law.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Services, such as:

Email delivery and newsletter providers (e.g., Resend);
Database and hosting providers (e.g., Supabase and our website host);
Meta Platforms, Inc., when publishing to Facebook through the Graph API;
AI service providers (e.g., xAI) used to help draft or schedule Page posts. We do not intentionally send private personal information to these providers.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of our readers or others. We will not reveal the identity of anonymous tipsters except where legally compelled.

5. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Tip and event submissions are kept as long as needed to review and report. Facebook access tokens are kept only while the app is authorized and are discarded when access is revoked or expires.

Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
Request access, correction, or deletion of your information by emailing us.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricted access to credentials. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however.

8. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
